by serenitynow! inmy mother was very strict about entertainment.
in school i was doing a project about teen suicide and had checked out some books on suicide and abortion.
i had alot of explaining to do for that.

HEARING. I have had poor hearing for a few years and as every one knows that it allows me to be 'selective' in what or who I listen to. If I went completely deaf I would miss the Stones of course. I wouldn't be able to hear at the meetings either.......
SIGHT is the one I really would not want to do without. Imagine walking to the beach this weather and not being able to see!

The infamous "Zero Year" in Biblical calculations
by RubaDub inmaybe i'm being too critical and don't understand other relevant factors, but it seems very strange to me that that those who studied bibical prophesies and timelines didn't know that there was no zero year.. i mean, if you are trying to map events from the bc/bce era to the current ad/ce era wouldn't it be somewhat obvious to a scholar how the time is calculated ?.
couldn't you just find a common date on the jewish calendar before and after the zero year and compare it to today's gregorian calenadar to find the number of actual years that elapsed?.
maybe it's more complex than i understand but if you are in the business of making predictions, it seems like you should know the basics.. rub a dub.

Who studied Bible prophesies? C T Russell had a couple of clothing shops and J F Rutherford was a lawyer. Hardly graduates in a related field?

Where did 607 come from?
by MrFreeze inokay so we've obviously established on this board that 607 is not the correct date that babylon destroyed jerusalem.
even before 1914 came around, the bible students still thought 1914 would be a pivital date.
the only way they can gain that info is from the 7 times or w/e.

Sooooo, perhaps he just counted backwards from 1914 and reached 607 BCE.
Not really. In fact if you check the old WT's you will see that up until c1943, the date for the fall of Jerusalem was always quoted as 606 BCE. Then they realised about the zero year and instead of moving the answer (1914) to 1915, they moved the destruction of Jerusalem back a year to 607 BCE.

I was informed that the Convention was Fantastic

"the symposiums were great, each segment was short enough to keep you engaged" was the response.. my reply "so the wts is catering for the short attention span tv generation.".

I asked a relative about the convention as ours is not until July. She said it was wonderful. I asked for details. She said the same brother did all the releases. He was from Bethel. She couldn't remember his name!

Neither the Bible or Dictionary support the new light on the Generation
by wasblind inaccording to the governing body, the anointed who were on hand in 1914 will overlap the lives of todays anointed.
these two groups make up one generation.. "bull".
the bible supports the dictionaries definition of generation, matthew 1:1-17 shows abraham, isaac and jacob as three separate generations, verse 17 says: "all the generations, then, from abraham until david were fourteen generations.. the dictionaries definition say: all people born around the same time; a single stage in the descent of a family or group.

Matthew 1:1-17 and luke 3: 23-38. These scriptures all talk of individual generations there is no combining of generations just because lives overlaped
Matthew lists the 42 generations from Abraham to Jesus. This was about 2016 years so each generation was about 48 years long. Considering Abraham had his first child at 99 yrs and people lived much longer then, this is quite reasonable. Today the familial generation is on average about 24 years in the US and 27 years in the UK (Wiki). So a generation of up to 200 years as suggested by the WTS (Franz 99yrs + another overlapper of similar age) is totally unrealistic.

yes, friends, this is another thread about the latest generation teaching.
so, if you're sick to death of it, leave now, save yourselves.... anyhoo... as the wts has now unleashed on the world the true explanation of generation and what it means for those of us in this time of the end, dubs who accept without question this teaching are 'oohing' and 'ahhing' as the new explanation 'makes so much sense now'.
